10 Jul LIVE YOUR PASSION!
It’s a wet and cold winter downunder in Australia! So when the sun came out a few days ago I decided it was high time to get up and go for a walk.
We all know that walking is good physical exercise but the really great thing about walking is that it also stimulates your thinking, your attitude and your creativity. Steve Jobs loved it!
When you’re out walking early mornings or after work or on holidays or even when shopping do you notice people wearing the most amazing t-shirts and windcheaters with inspirational messages printed on them? I do and I love it.
Over the years I’ve seen plenty of innovative, funny, shocking, cause-related or compassionate messages. They always make me think deeply, look at things from a different perspective and more often than not, inspire me to take some action.
How about you? Do you ever notice something written on someone’s shirt and you think, “Kapow! That message is perfect for me!”
Well, on my walk the other day, I saw a message that said, Live your passion. Wow! Live your passion.
How confronting. How proactive. How important!
Are you living your passion?
I hope so and I hope it’s going really well for you.
But, if you’re not living your passion what can you do about it?
Ok, time to get serious. What do you love doing? What do you do that keeps you in the flow and you spend hours doing it? What do you do that makes you feel like you are making a positive difference in the world?
For me it has been teaching, which has turned into leading teachers, which has turned into leading schools to empower teachers and students to be the best they can be; working together to develop skills and understandings to make the world a better place now and into the future.
I love it and I’m always thinking of new ways of empowering others to be great teachers and great school leaders.
Lately I’ve come across a number of articles about achieving happiness or how to find your purpose. I agree that many of us are seeking true happiness and purpose, but to me it’s really simple. You see I think the funny thing is that it all comes down to a moment in time where you make a choice.
Life is all about choices.
Every minute of every day.
So we can choose to keep on living our passion, or we can choose to make changes and start living our passion or we can choose to complain, to blame circumstances or blame others and therefore be unhappy about not living our passion.
Mmmmm. What are you choosing?
Well, I’m choosing to be happy, to be purposeful and to empower a whole new generation of school leaders. If you’re choosing to be an awesome school leader then I’d love to meet you either in person or virtually, because together we can Live our Passion.
Whatever you choose, I wish you all the success in the world and suggest you get out there and go walking regularly to spark your creativity, critical thinking and growth mindset to Live your Passion.
